1 THESSALONIANS 5:25 “BRETHREN, PRAY FOR US.”

JUNE 2008 PRAISE AND PRAYER LETTER

PSALM 57:1-2 “BE MERCIFUL UNTO ME, O GOD, BE MERCIFUL UNTO ME: FOR MY SOUL TRUSTETH IN THEE: YEA, IN THE SHADOW OF THY WINGS WILL I MAKE MY REFUGE, UNTILL THESE CALAMITIES BE OVERPAST.  I WILL CRY UNTO GOD MOST HIGH; UNTO GOD THAT PERFORMETH ALL THINGS FOR ME.”

Dear Praying Friends & Co-Workers in Christ

In this world of sorrow, heartache, high prices, health needs and crime on every hand we find the above verses from God’s precious Word a source of comfort and strength to our hearts as we wait for His return to take us, His Children, home to be with him where there are no such things as we see happening today.  Praise the Lord Children for His return is drawing near!

This letter comes your way from Bonnie Scotland with thankful hearts for each one of you our faithful supporters in prayer as well in love and financial support.  All these are important to us but we especially appreciate your prayers for us because God uses prayer to work miracles and change hearts.  We deeply appreciate all the encouragement through cards, email, and phone calls in remembrance of our anniversary.  We remember the ministry there of each supporter in prayers daily.  We know you face battles just as we do here and we all need each other to do great things in the Lord’s work wherever we are.

We have been passing out John & Romans booklets with tracts and invitations to come to the church through the doors again and as a result a young man came to church last Sunday.  His mother had received a booklet several weeks back through her door and he came as result of that.  What a blessing from the Lord because it is the first good result in sometime from the distribution of literature through the doors.  We are still witnessing to those we meet as we walk about the town and inviting them to come to church.  Pray that the Lord will use His Word to reach many that are without Him, as we witness to others that they will listen with an open heart and come to trust the Lord as Saviour.

We desire your prayers for the Nursing Home ministry.  We only have 2 that we go to each month.  We had to discontinue one home due to the fact that the workers would not help the people get to the assembly hall each time.  This is a shame but when we went they would tell us at the door that there was no one in the hall.  We have given out large print Bibles in the homes to those that would receive them; of course we had several who would not take a Bible.  Even some of the workers in the homes have taken Bibles. Pray that the Word of God will bring them to Christ.

The man we mentioned earlier that would try to bring in false teaching quit coming maybe the messages got to hot for him but he showed up again last night for service.  We desire your prayers that he will sit and listen and let the Lord show him the truth from the Word.

Bro. Archie Martin is in the states for furlough and is planning to visit his supporting churches to report to them on the work that he is helping do here in Scotland.  He is a great blessing to us and the church.  He is greatly missed in helping with the work of the church and for his encouragement and support here in witnessing to others about Christ.  Please ask the Lord to touch him as he travels and that souls will come to Christ.

We continue to have a service once a month with Mrs. Bain at her home.  She enjoys this and it encourages her since she does not get to come to church now.  She has some serious health problems and is constantly under the care of the doctors.  Mrs. Bremner needs a house that is on one level and with security as well.  She still comes to services at night.  Bro. Tom is to have an MRI Scan on his legs today the 29th of May.  Maybe the doctors can find the cause of the leg pains he has; all test so far have come up with no answer to the problem.  Bro. Roddy has cataracts and is to see an eye specialist on 9th June concerning this.  Pray that he will not have to wait a long time for surgery; sometimes we wait a long time for surgeries due to socialized medicine.

Our hearts were thrilled on 11th May to receive word that our 7th grandchild was born.  April, our daughter, gave birth to Jeffrey Luke.  The family is adjusting to the addition to the family even the 2 sisters with all their help.  Our grandson, Jake, still needs prayer for health needs.  The other grandchildren are growing up too fast.  My mother is struggling with kidney infections and has had 3 different types of medication for it maybe this last one will cure it.  Hazel’s parents especially need your prayers.  We also ask your prayers for our dear Pastor, Dr. Dennis & Mrs. Linda Carter, who have health needs and for several in the church at Trinity in Spartanburg, S.C. who have serious health needs.  Our Pastor has been a blessing, encouragement and help to us by his love and prayers for us.

In closing we just want to say thanks for being there for us with your prayers and financial support.  What a blessing from the Lord.

Because of Calvary
