Missions To Scotland

February 2008

Dear Praying Friends,

I hope this letter finds all well. We are praying for our supporting churches and pastors, as well as, many pastors and saints that we have met along the way.

We are officially “full time” in our deputation journey, beginning with a mission conference at the Henderson Road Baptist Church in Macon, GA, January 13-16. From there we went to southeast Georgia and visited the Lakeview Baptist Church (a supporting church) on Sunday morning then the Bright Light Baptist Church in Rocky Ford, GA, that night.

From there we headed to North Carolina where we visited these churches:

Faith Baptist Church, North Wilkesboro, Pastor Rex Williams

Piney Ridge Baptist Church, Wilkes County, Pastor Lane Roark

Morning Star Baptist Church, Pine Hall, Pastor Tim Gentry

Vision Baptist Church (Camp meeting), Millers Creek, Pastor Farrell Shepherd

New Light Baptist Church, Wilkes County, Pastor Jim Belcher

We had to come home for two orthodontist appointments and are taking a few days to do thing around the house, then we are out again February 9th. We will be returning home for another orthodontist appointment in mid March.

God is teaching us much on the road. We are learning more about prayer. As we attend churches and hear the prayer requests, God burdens us with many of the needs to carry with us and intercede for once we leave that church. I am also burdened about the spiritual apathy I see in many of the churches we attend, this causes me to examine my heart to see how apathetic I might have become. Another lesson in the school of deputation is management of my time and resources. (I need help on time management…anybody know where I can get more time?) These are just a few of the lessons I am learning. I know God has much more to teach me.

God is so good, and the people of God have reflected His love toward me and my family. We are so thankful for the many ways He meets our needs. Sometimes it is through a church, sometimes through one of his children. Lately God provided new shoes for some of the children, and socks for the older boys and me. I want to thank God for allowing my path to cross with a brother that packed the wheel bearings on my trailer. We are grateful to for the “goodie baskets” and gift bags our family receives from time to time.

Our Prayer Requests:

Traveling mercies

Home Schooling on the road (time, places, and PATIENCE)

Open doors to churches willing and able to support missionaries

Protection from sickness

Pray that our vehicle will give us many miles

Thank you for your prayers and continued financial support.

Your Missionary to Scotland,

Bro. Douglas Bell
